Satukirja, Iltasatuja Kalajokivarresta

Iltasatuja Kalajokivarresta is a lively children’s book that combines traditional bedtime stories, a local dialect, and modern comic art. The stories are written by screenwriter Martti Elsilä, who was born in Kalajoki, and illustrated by Oulu-based comic artist Hanna Kukko. The stories are based on bedtime tales Elsilä told to his grandchildren. The book also includes touches of real life – for example, the story Uittomies Taneli rakastuu (“Raftsman Taneli Falls in Love”) is inspired by the first meeting of the author’s parents in the 1930s.
